The Social program consists of 5 levels
1. Perfectly Social – a manners and life skills course offered to sixth graders (no partners required). In this course we focus on introducing and reinforcing social skills, such as proper handshakes, making eye contact, good posture, and speaking clearly. The gentlemen are taught and practice the skills of escorting a lady, helping her with her coat, and the correct way to help her be seated. The final class is a 5 course seated dinner where proper table etiquette and utensil usage is taught. This course is not required to take Social I, but is a perfect introduction to the school-year long courses that follow. We offer this course in Augusta during October and February, in Aiken during September and February and Waynesboro during February. Gentlemen wear a sport coat and tie or suit. Ladies wear a dress or skirt. Cost of the course and dinner is $110.
2. Social I – offered to 7th graders and above, partners are required. They will learn the basic steps to the fox-trot, waltz, shag, and other fun and current dances. Social skills are taught and reinforced throughout the year. This class meets every other week for 1 hour from September-May which includes a Christmas Dance, a Father/Daughter Valentine Dance, and the Spring Formal. Cost for the class year is $290, you may pay in full or $145 to register and $145 in January.
3. Social II – Social I is required. New steps are added to the dances they already know, as well as faster and more advanced dances such as the Cha-Cha, Boogie, and Shag. This class meets every other week for 1 hour from September-May which includes a Christmas Dance and the Spring Formal. Cost for the class year is $290, you may pay in full or $145 to register and $145 in January.
4 . Dance Club – Social II is required. Dance Club consists of monthly theme parties where students make new friends and practice their dance skills in a well-chaperoned environment. Beach, Halloween, and 50’s are a few of the themes that are used. Dance Club meets September-May. Cost of Dance Club is $260
5. Cotillion Club – Those that have finished Dance Club may apply to be chosen as a member of the Cotillion Club. They are taught specials that they will perform at the Christmas Dances as well as the Spring Formal. Their role is to help younger students during classes as well as serve as dance demonstrators. Their commitment consists of 8-10 practices( held before regular classes start and during Christmas break) as well as being assigned one nights classes, which are held once every other week. They gain valuable leadership skills by being asked to help others with their skills, as well as serve as positive role models.
